The Challenge
Our client is one of the top global consulting firms in the world. They recruit the best and brightest talent, provide consulting to many of the leading global firms, and in 2018 achieved sales of $7.5 billion.
As their work becomes increasingly complex, so they find themselves unable to simply replicate tried and tested methods. Instead, newly-formed project teams are tasked with rapidly learning about clients’ challenges, in order to help them solve it.
The key word in the sentence above? Learning.
Because as soon as you need groups of people to work together on a complex challenge or problem, then you need them to be learning. And as soon as a group needs to learn, then it must be safe for them to share ideas, challenge thinking, admit not knowing, take risks, and (critically) to fail.
And so this firm, like Google, Pixar and many other leading organisations, recognise that they need leaders capable of creating the Psychological Safety for their teams to thrive as they engage in this complex work.
The Solution
CoCreate were engaged to support with developing Psychological Safety. We started by providing training for internal facilitators who provide critical support to internal project teams.
Next, CoCreate Partner Andy Caldwell was asked to deliver a keynote making a compelling business case for Psychological Safety to 250 Partners and senior leaders from across the organisation. We created a Leadership Self evaluation, and a tool-kit to support leaders with taking action.
Our work to date has been highly successful, generating exceptional feedback and igniting leadership experiments in terms of creating Psychological Safety. We are now exploring opportunities for embedding Psychological Safety into the heart of what they do as an organisation.
